About Kendall
Kendall Morris Savani is a former award-winning journalist for NBC Charlotte. She came to the Queen City from Knoxville, Tennessee where she was an anchor and reporter for WBIR-TV. She graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors in journalism from Texas Christian University with a degree in broadcast journalism. After interning at KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas, Kendall discovered her passion for covering television news. She also interned with WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas and KMID-TV in Midland, Texas, where she made her on-air debut. During the JFK 50th Anniversary, Kendall interned with Face the Nation and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. Throughout her college career, she worked as a multimedia reporter, team leader and managing editor for TCU360, the digital-first online news source for TCU. At the 2014 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association awards, she won first place in News Non-Feature Story, first place in Audition Tape, and honorable mention in News Feature Story for her work with TCU360. Most recently, she won an AP award for Best Political Coverage for a six-part series titled "Fines, Fees, and a Flawed System."
On July 1, 2011, Kendall was crowned Miss Texas 2011. She represented the Lone Star State in the 2012 Miss America Pageant on ABC where she was a top 10 semi-finalist, preliminary swimsuit winner, and overall instrumentalist. Through the Miss America Organization, Kendall earned more than $30,000 in scholarships that went toward finishing her degree at TCU. During her year as Miss Texas, Kendall traveled the state speaking about her platform "Leukemia: Living for a Cure" in honor of her dad, who was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in 2007. She also promoted the Children's Miracle Network, motivated thousands of students through her school program, and volunteered with numerous philanthropic organizations. One of the highlights of her year was working as a video host and interviewer with EXPRESS clothing retailer on the "Express Tours Texas" and "Express Rocks SXSW" campaigns.
